Expansion of the Passenger Terminal at Chișinău International Airport – on the MIDR agenda
The expansion of the passenger terminal at Chișinău International Airport was the main topic of discussions during the visit of Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea and State Secretary Veaceslav Șipitca to the Public Institution Office for Territorial Planning, Urbanism, Construction, and Housing (OATUCL).
OATUCL representatives presented the project concepts developed to modernize the airport and align it with the standards of a modern European airport.
Project analysis at AIC
Discussions continued at Chișinău International Airport, where sketches of the new control areas for security, customs, and passport control were analyzed together with the airport’s administration.
Modernization and expansion for a more efficient airport
Minister Vladimir Bolea emphasized the importance of this project, considering the increasing demands from passengers.
“We will expand the airport by over 5000 m², adding shops, restaurants, and waiting areas. Additionally, we will modernize customs and border control areas, ensuring that passengers can experience a **fast and comfortable border crossing process”, said the minister.
Significant infrastructure modifications
According to OATUCL Director Nicolae Lupușor, the terminal expansion involves major modifications to the existing infrastructure.
“The passenger space will be expanded, access stairs and elevators will be reconfigured, and the second-floor platform will be extended. These interventions will contribute to increasing the airport’s capacity and **enhancing passenger comfort”, explained the director.
The expansion of the terminal is a crucial step toward modernizing Chișinău International Airport, aligning it with European standards, and providing more efficient and comfortable services for passengers.
